Baby Koala Greets The World

A baby koala is experiencing life outside of its mother's pouch for the first time.  The joey was actually born back in November, but didn't emerge from her mother, Cambee, until recently. They both live at the San Diego Zoo, which is home to largest Queensland koala breeding program outside of Australia.  "It is always fun when we get to work with koala joeys and watch their personalities develop," said San Diego Zoo keeper Lacy Pearson in a statement. “At this age, she has not shown us her personality yet, but she is doing great, and has already started to eat eucalyptus leaves."

San Diego Zoo's New Panda To Make Public Debut



A baby panda made its first public appearance to a chorus of "ooos" and "awwws" at the San Diego Zoo. The 5-month-old male cub was brought out to meet its fans for a couple hours Thursday morning. The baby panda is named Xiao Liwu, which means "little gift" in Chinese.

Though understandably frightened after being separated from their mother for the longest period of time yet, koala joeys Thackery and Milo stayed strong as they underwent their first routine medical examination at the San Diego Zoo this week.
