Bob Barker Donates $1M to Send Rescued Elephants to California Sanctuary

Three former zoo elephants from Canada have arrived at their new home in a California sanctuary after former "Price is Right" host and animal activist Bob Barker sought and paid for the move.The 89-year-old Barker was on hand late Sunday to welcome the pachyderms to the Performing Animal Welfare Society's ARK 2000 compound in the hills near San Andreas, The Sacramento Bee reported.  "It was more than emotional for me, for all of us," Barker said. "I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. It's hard to believe they are finally here."

Ex-TV Host Barker Opens New Area At Chimp Haven

Animal activist and retired game-show host Bob Barker visited northwest Louisiana Thursday to open a new area at Chimp Haven, a national chimpanzee sanctuary, and to watch as five HIV-infected chimps transferred from a closed Texas facility were introduced to their new home. "They came down the hill through the timber, some of them running on their hind legs. Just running," Barker said after the ceremony. "They were so happy. One climbed a tree clear to the top. They played with balls and they ate bananas. "I had a lump in my throat. I almost burst into tears, I was so happy when I saw it."
